The Worst Possible of All Blogworlds
I don’t quite remember how I came across this YouTube video, and I’m not quite sure what to think of it, but that being said it scares the crap out of me.
If you don’t have eight or so minutes to kill, here’s the bottom line. This guy makes a really good case that the government is seriously considering, and/or in the process of collecting lists of seditious bloggers like me, and that those bloggers will have to register with their Congressmen and ostensibly have their content screened.
The rationalization the administration is using is, as usual protecting ourselves against terrorists. More specifically, terrorist bloggers. Less specifically, the definition they’re using for what constitutes a terrorist blog.
I’m thinking about being proactive about the whole process, and sending my Congressman Randy Kuhl links to all my posts that bash him for his pro-war stance. I’ll throw in all my other anti-Bush stuff too, which is just about any of the posts in the politics category. I don’t know whether to send my blast against his buddy Tom Reynolds from the neighboring Congressional district to Randy, or whether I might save him some time sending it to Tom.
I don’t mind if I have to send my posts to Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton, but I’m sure they wouldn’t mind. I like them both.
The implications for this are terrifying. With the control of mainstream media falling into fewer and fewer hands the internet is becoming a vital voice for serious, or in my case, semi-serious political discourse. What if the blogosphere was like Fox News?
I’d like to have the honor of being one of the first blogs tagged, but I’m sure there will be others before me. Alex at Rebel Frequencies has a lot more stones than I do. Then there’s Danger Democrat in Northern NY.
Where will they stop? Will they go after my less political blog heroes that I link to? Mr. Crunchy is kinda liberal. What about Dooce? She seems kinda crunchy. .com/”>Soundtrack Rachel?
How about Venemous Kate? Or YouTube, Congressman Randy Kuhl, Tom Reynolds, Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, Fox News
