The Organic Free Range Egg War is On

Last week I wrote about the beautiful organic eggs from reasonably free range chickens offered in the local grocery store. Now, heaven bless them, Bob and Irv’s now offers THREE different kinds of organic eggs, although not usually at the same time.

I know I’m tainted by regionalism, but I think the Naples eggs are better than those from nearby Prattsburgh. It could be because the Prattsburgh eggs only say “certified organic” and don’t specifically say “free range” as Columbine farm eggs boast on their package.

I was so inspired by the second Naples farm producing eggs that I changed dinner plans to include omelettes. There was one Prattsburgh egg left, and if I had a better camera, I could have shown you that the yolk of the Naples egg was bigger, and had a much brighter, healthier hue.

Just look at these eggs. The “blue” ones are just as delicious as the brown ones.

Forget about high school sports rivalries. It’s all about the eggs.

  1. So many people can’t find eggs like this at all…and now you have a choice! Lucky you! Supply and demand…the more local consumers you can encourage to buy these eggs, the more of them there will be to buy.

  2. Deb,
The other great thing about this is that it’s local… local farms, local store. None of it’s going to corporate America, and the farmers are getting their fair share of the profits.
