Al Gore: The Planet has a Fever

Last week when Al Gore testified again to Congress about the impact of global warming, he used this explanation to somehow get through the apparently thick skull of Senator Joe Barton (D-TX) a skeptic about global warming.

When CO2 goes up, temperature goes up, that is why 20 of the 21 hottest years ever mentioned in the human record have been recorded in the last 25 years. The ten hottest have been since 1990. THe hottest was 2005. The hottest in the Unites States of America was 2006. The hottest winter globally was this winter, 2006 and 2007 of THIS year. Last month. This is going on right now.

This planet has a fever. If your baby has a fever, you go to the doctor. If the doctor says, ‘You have to intervene here,’ you don’t say, ‘Well, I read a science fiction novel that says it’s not a problem.’” If the crib is on fire you don’t speculate that the baby is flame retardant; you take action. The planet has a fever.

I can’t wait to use this explanation with the next skeptic I run into. I’ll even offer this for the visual learners.

  • If Al Gore were to announce today that he would run for President, would he blow Obama and Clinton out of the water?
